The restaurant serves meals from Tuesday to Sunday, from 7 pm till 10 pm and Sunday Lunch from 12pm till 2 pm. The Campsite has a toilet block and a tap for water, Rates are Very reasonable at only £7 per night for Caravans and Tents. This is a very quiet site, out of the way of the hustle and bustle. We know Cliff, the landlord well, and your pint glass will never be empty!
Big Pit: Mining Museum
Big Pit National Coal Museum is an industrial heritage museum in Blaenavon, Torfaen, South Wales. A working coal mine from 1860 to 1980, it was opened to visitors from 1980 under the auspices of the National Museum Wales. The site is dedicated to the operational preservation of the Welsh heritage of coal mining, which took place during the Industrial revolution.
You can go for an Underground Tour and the guides will talk you through the Working day lives of the miners.
Located adjacent to the preserved Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway, Big Pit is an Anchor Point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage and located close to the World Heritage Site in Blaenavon.
